The New Morality

Seems to be to look the other way when others have problems, rationalizing it as 'it's not my problem (thank god), so why bother helping out'. How convenient. People who are the most troubled get the chance to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, and are ignored at the time of their worst peril. How brave. How sickening.

It's Alright

The people I looked up to most when I was a kid was my teachers. I was lucky to have some really great ones. They made me think, pushing me to pursue learning outside the classroom.

Yalta Revisited

Seems like the only people happy with the 'Gang of 14' in the Senate compromise are those who haven't been paying attention. From the left we get the 'The Clarence Thomas 7' (The Left Coaster), and from the right we get 'the minions of Satan' (from Frist Dobsonites)

Wanted: Hope

It used to be that we looked to our leaders for that very thing. Nowadays it seems that all they can offer is caution and warnings. I've got enough bad dreams/juju rattling around in my brain without them adding to the pile.

Compromise Reached

The Sith Dark Lord Darth Sidious (a.k.a. Emperor Palpatine) has reached terms with the Jedi in a landmark deal. "We agree never to attack our lovely Jedi brethren, unless they attack us first," said the Dark Lord. One provision in the agreement has raised concerns. Namely that the Jedi must hand over all its light sabers immediately. "We were initially concerned about this, but then realized it was for our own safety," said the Jedi master Obi-Joe Liebnobi. Han Solo could not be reached for comment.

You know, the Jezreel valley. You can google it. I thought it was just something from The Omen. Who will be the next 'Lord of Meggido'? Can the Senate vote to dissolve itself? Or appended to the House? Pull. The. Trigger. Enough talk. Time to act.

The Power Of Weblogs

Just watched The Power of Nightmares for a second time, and must not have been paying attention the first time, cos I seemed to have missed a whole lot. The producers of the film are basically saying that Al Qaueda is a myth propped up by the govt's in the US and UK to scare people, and that the people who have the most vivid imaginations (i.e. the worst nightmares) have carried the day and are setting policy. Can't imagine a US broadcast media corp airing this, ever. This would make Newsweek and Dan Rather look like apologists for the US Administration.
